The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, visited today the headquarters of the pet food company Pet Select, in A Pobra do Caramiñal, to know the project of expansion of its facilities that it is going to undertake in the polygon of Espiñeira, in the neighboring concello of Boiro.
María Rivas was received by Miguel Alonso Escurís, CEO Seanergy 360, a company belonging to the Jealsa Corporation that leads the bet for the circularity of the group and that includes the firms Pet Select, Valora Marine Ingredients and Conserveros Reunidos; Luis Martínez, director of Pet Select, and David Cabanelas, director of Valora.
During the visit, which was also accompanied by the councilors of Boiro, José Ramón Romero, and A Pobra, José Carlos Vidal, the subdelegate congratulated Pet Select for this improvement, for which it obtained 4.4 million euros from the Government’s Circular Economy Pass with which it will be able to expand its productive capacity and, at the same time, advance in the reduction of its ecological footprint reducing the consumption of raw materials thanks to a novel process of packaging food in cardboard.
María Rivas reported that the objective of this PERTE is to accelerate the transition to a more efficient and sustainable production system in the use of raw materials. “It is a question of promoting a transition from the current linear economic model based on producing – consuming – throwing to a more sustainable and efficient one in which the ecological footprint is reduced, promoting actions such as recycling and reuse of products,” he said.
In this line, he explained that in Galicia there are four companies to which aid amounting to 15 million euros was granted within the framework of this PERTE, which will serve to develop five projects aimed at reducing the consumption of raw materials, the development of ecodesign, waste management and digitalization.
