The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, held a meeting with the Vice-Rector of the Lugo Campus of the USC, Francisco José Fraga, in which she recognized all the work of dissemination of the wide range of degrees of the educational offer, as well as the scientific level of the research projects they have underway. On this visit, he took the opportunity to remind the nearly 4,000 students of the Terra Campus that the deadline for applications for scholarships and grants from the Ministry of Education for the 2024/2025 academic year is open until May 10.
Isabel Rodríguez reported that in this call, to which 2,535 million euros are allocated, some innovations were introduced such as the increase in income thresholds by 5% to allow more students to access a scholarship, the equalization of victims of sexual violence under age with victims of gender violence in terms of flexibility of academic requirements, or the exclusion of the computation of patrimonial returns from subsidies for the rental of habitual housing, a claim of students and families.
The deputy delegate congratulated the vice rector for the programs promoted to publicize the offer of the campus to secondary students to choose Lugo as an educational destination. “More and more boys and girls decide to move to Lugo to carry out their university studies, highlighting the case of the Veterinary Faculty, where currently 50% of the students come from outside Galicia,” said Rodríguez. In addition, both highlighted the transcendental research work that is carried out on the Lucense campus.
