The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, received the young athlete Yulenmis Aguilar, who comes from obtaining her Spanish nationality through the letter of nature approved in the Council of Ministers after the management of the Ministry of Sports, led by Minister Pilar Alegría. His coach, Raimundo Fernández, and his lawyer, Santiago Ferreiro, also participated in the meeting.
The government delegate highlighted “the deep pride of welcoming young people who represent the values that characterize sports practice, such as companionship, solidarity, effort and enthusiasm”. Precisely for this reason, Pedro Blanco defined Yulenmis Aguilar as “an example for future generations of athletes”.
Yulenmis Aguilar, born in 1996, has been living since the end of 2020 in Oleiros, where she also trains, after arriving from Cuba. After years of stalling due to injuries and being removed from the Cuban national team’s competitions by technical decision, Aguilar will be able to compete again internationally with Spain. She was very grateful to the Government for its intercession to achieve Spanish nationality and also very motivated by the idea of representing Spain in the next Olympic Games to be held in Paris.
Pedro Blanco put in value his dedication and his effort to achieve his goals. In addition, he took the opportunity to wish him much luck in his career, “and specifically in his next great challenge, the Paris Olympic Games this summer.”
