The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, went today to the Naval Command of the Miño in Tui, where he held a meeting with the mayors of the “stripe”, which served as the first institutional contact since his inauguration with the municipal representatives of the international stretch of the Miño.
The mayors of Tui, Enrique Cabaleiro, O Rosal, Ánxela Fernández, Tomiño, Sandra González, Arbo, Horacio Gil, A Guarda, José Roberto Álvarez, and As Neves, José Manuel Alfonso participated.
Losada visited the Naval Command in the company of the commander of the Miño, Andrés Díaz-Ripoll, where he greeted the 23 members of this Navy endowment and was invited to inspect the patrol boat “Cabo Fradera”. Later he held a meeting with the mayors of the international section in which he collected the “agenda of the Miño”.
Among other issues, the subdelegate undertook to transfer to the Ministry for Ecological Transition (MITECO) the possibility of holding a joint meeting between municipalities, Xunta and the Government of the State in which issues related to the environmental preservation of the area are addressed, such as the elimination of invasive species or the promotion of sanitation, since they are issues with cross-competencies that affect local, regional and state administrations.
Abel Losada reported that the Government of Spain is evaluating the commission of a hydrological study to the Center for Studies and Experimentation of Public Works (CEDEX), which would be carried out in conjunction with the equivalent organism of Portugal, to assess in a scientific way the effects of erosion on the coast and the possibility of performing dredging, taking into account its possible influence on currents and erosive phenomena.
On the other hand, the deputy delegate reported that the Naval Command, together with the Portuguese Marinha are working on a single navigation regulation on the international stretch of the Miño.
Abel Losada will soon revisit the Naval Command of Tui to participate in the signing of the border recognition act that is carried out annually by the permanent commission of which the Spanish Navy, the Portuguese Marinha and the border municipalities of the line are part.
