The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, announced during the institutional visit to the Concello de Burela the conditions of the guarantees that will facilitate the purchase of his first home to young people under 35 and families with minors in charge, guaranteeing up to 20% of the mortgage. She explained the requirements along with the government’s deputy delegate in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, and the mayor, Carmela López, with whom she shared the need to consolidate housing as the fifth pillar of the welfare state with public policies that help fix population in small municipalities.
At the meeting, Pedro Blanco confirmed that “we have just approved new guarantees from the Official Credit Institute (ICO) with a line of 2.5 billion euros for the purchase of the first home, which will have a great impact in Galicia by offering this possibility to about 50,000 young people”.
He also stressed the Government’s commitment to the protection of minors “with a measure that serves to solve a complex problem that needs concrete instruments to address it.” He defended in this sense “that it is not an isolated initiative, since it was also this Government that approved the first Housing Law of democracy, which is complemented by other responses such as the young bonus or rental subsidies”.
Pedro Blanco highlighted the work of the mayor in finding solutions for her neighbors and neighbors: “I know that we work hand in hand to improve people’s lives, and that in a concello like Burela, with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants, the service network and public policies are more necessary than ever.”
Guarantee conditions
Among people up to 35 years old and families with children in charge, this program will be accessible to those with continuous and uninterrupted legal residence in Spain during the two years prior to the loan application and who have individual income that does not exceed 37,800 euros gross per year (4.5 times the IPREM). In case the house is purchased by two people, this limit will be doubled and the IPREM will be increased by 0.3 times for each child in charge. En el caso de familias monoparentales podrá incrementarse en un 70% adicional.
The Government will cover up to 20% of the total credit and the limit of the endorsed heritage will be a maximum of 100,000 euros. The loans may be formalized until December 31, 2025, with the guarantee having a term of 10 years at most.
