Ourense, March 7, 2024.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, highlighted the Strategic Plan of Disability 2022/30 that the Government puts in line with the European guidelines that "want to achieve among all the involvement of the autonomous communities, municipalities, public and private institutions and at the state level to eliminate these barriers that exist with the group of disabled people." He did so during a visit to the ASPANAS center in Velle with its president, Javier Rodríguez González, and the president of Fademga, Eladio Fernández.
The subdelegate positioned the ASPANAS center as a “historic center of reference in the province that has been helping people with disabilities and their family environment for many years.”
Emilio González wanted to transfer the objectives and work that the Government of Pedro Sánchez is carrying out for the group with the Strategic Plan 2022/30, such as "the transformations at the constitutional level and of the judicial procedures". Changing that concept of guardianship for protection. So that people with academic disabilities have the same full set of rights."
The amendment to Article 49 of the Constitution changes the term “diminished” to “disabled person”, thus putting an end to a terminology that did not reflect the values of our Constitution or, above all, the dignity of a group. of the citizens. It also eliminates the existence of judicial incapacitation for people with intellectual disabilities, which did not allow them to vote or to have their own money.
The subdelegate stressed that equality also for women and girls with disabilities, coinciding these days with the demands of women for 8M.
Emilio González called on the other institutions to "walk together along that path of the Strategic Plan to eliminate these barriers and above all, not supervise, but help".
In total, the amount transferred from the government to Spanish local entities in 2024 will reach the record figure of 28,557 million euros, 22% more than in 2023, something that makes clear the profoundly municipalist identity of the Government of Pedro Sánchez.
