The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today called on the Galician boys and girls to “make possible” real equality between men and women and not to give up “one millimeter” in the defense of the rights achieved in the last five years. She did so on the eve of March 8 during the closing of the colloquium “Con M de Mujer” among women of Generation Z, organized by the Government Delegation on the occasion of Women’s Day.
In his speech, Pedro Blanco borrowed the words of the Galician thinker Concepción Arenal, who said that “all things are impossible, while they seem impossible”, to tell the youth that “real equality is possible” with the union of institutional measures, investments and the strength of the whole society.
The delegate insisted that “for this Delegation every day of the year is March 8”, with actions and messages that claim the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the feminist agenda and with public policies that defend and advance the rights of women and that fight against gender violence. And he detailed some of these actions “with which we intend to keep Galician society mirrored”, such as awareness campaigns, training days and the recognition “Meninas”, the people and entities that fight against gender violence.
It also advanced the projects in which the Government works to consolidate new rights such as the parity law, the equal treatment law and the law on the protection of minors and adolescents against pornography on the Internet, along with agreements against hate speech and measures to guarantee gender equality in the field of care.
Colloquium “With M of Woman”
The MUNCYT auditorium hosted this colloquium, in which five women representatives of Generation Z participated to discuss the evolution of the role of women, the vision of women from different fields and contribute their personal experience. As professionals, the Galician actress Lydia Prada participated; the publicist and businesswoman of A Coruña Mercedes Santalla; and the manager of the dairy farm of Vila de Cruces “Manteiga”, María Manteiga. On behalf of the women who are preparing for the labor market, Carla Olmedo, a student of BAC, and Uxue Gómez, a student of a Vocational Training Cycle, both of the IES Eusebio de A Guarda de A Coruña, participated.
No colloquium addressed current issues such as post-machismo, violence in the networks, or the survival of stereotypes in different areas. The conversation combined the experiences of the working, entrepreneurial and entrepreneurial participants with the expectations of the newest women #face the future as well as the fears before reviving it from the so-called generational gap that compares a part of society that recovers the defense of male positions with that which advocates for the advancement of rights.
Among the audience, in addition to the government delegate and the government subdelegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, there were 60 boys and girls from the IES Eusebio de A Guarda de A Coruña as well as women from the public administration in the province and representatives of business, neighborhood, feminist, and social associations of the city of A Coruña.

This colloquium is part of the actions organized by the Government Delegation in Galicia in the week of 8M, Women's Day.
