The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, today highlighted the importance of coordination between the Security Forces and Corps to advance the security of the city of Cambre. Together with the mayor of the municipality, Óscar García Patiño, the subdelegate chaired the Local Security Xunta in Cambre and thus agreed to continue promoting coordination between the Civil Guard and the Local Police to enhance citizen security.
María Rivas wanted to transfer the results of the work carried out by the Security Forces and Corps over the last year, which is reflected in the decrease in criminal offenses, which decreased by 7.19%, and which is also reflected in the improvement in almost 2 points in terms of the level of clarification.
Excluding data relating to fraud offences, and taking as a reference the data compared to the previous year, the level of global clarification improved by 9.09 points reaching 56.53% of total prison offences.
In this regard, the subdelegate stressed that “preventive work and follow-up, as well as constant and continuous action are key to the resolution and to improve police effectiveness.”
Regarding the crime rate, the subdelegate recalled that the index in Spain is 49.0 and in Galicia it is 35.3. Cambre's data are at 27.12 points almost 11 points below the province's average which is at 38.2. “These are data that indicate on the one hand that police work gives results and on the other that, from the start, the city of Cambre is a safe city council,” said the deputy delegate.
Master Plan for Coexistence in Educational Centers
At the meeting, the Government ' s deputy delegate provided information on the impact of the Ministry of the Interior ' s Master Plan for School Coexistence in Cambre ' s schools.
In this regard, María Rivas expressed her satisfaction with the good reception during 2023 so that in all the educational centers activities of the Master Plan were developed in which 300 people participated among students, teachers and families.
The Master Plan for School Coexistence carried out 15 activities in the 7 centers of which 7 served to address issues related to school bullying and the remaining 8 with new technologies.
VioGene
María Rivas and the mayor of Cambre also analyzed the data provided by the victim protection system VioGén in the province of A Coruña, in which the police systems incorporated to VioGen recorded 2,188 active cases of gender violence. “Each of the 2,188 registered women is a priority for the government and all work is little to guarantee their protection and that of their families. We all have to fight together against gender violence, for a fairer society,” said Rivas. In this regard, he recalled the usefulness of the municipalities participating actively and exploring all the possibilities offered by the VioGén victim protection system.
In this same vein, the subdelegate stressed that collaboration and coordination on the part of all institutions involved in the protection of victims of gender violence is indispensable.
Thus, María Rivas appreciated the collaboration of the mayor in the fight against gender violence, since the local police of the municipality is part of the system of protection of victims of male violence (VioGén) since 2021; as well as the reactivation of the services exercised by the Interinstitutional Coordination Table against Gender Violence.
The subdelegate recalled that in the province of A Coruña there are 24 municipalities adhered to the VioGén system and 39 those that have Interinstitutional Coordination Tables. María Rivas took the opportunity to highlight the importance of all municipalities in the province that have local police joining the VioGén system to “end inequalities and thus achieve a society free of male violence.”
Cambre City Council received from 2018 the amount of 88.692.77 euros in the framework of the State Pact against Gender Violence for the development of activities for prevention and awareness in this matter.
