The deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, co-presidiu this morning with the mayor of Baiona, #Jesús Vázquez Almuíña, the Local Xunta of Security of this city, whose priority point was focused on promoting and coordinating all the measures aimed at guaranteeing security in the town during the development of the program of activities of the XXVIII edition of the Fiesta de la Arribada, which will take place on March 1, 2 and 3. The captain of the Vigo Civil Guard Company, Rafael Pereira; the lieutenant of the Main Post of Baiona, Marcos Lago; as well as the heads of the Local Police of Baiona and Nigrán and other security officials were also present.
It is expected that the celebration of this medieval festival, which has the recognition of international tourist interest, will be attended by several tens of thousands of people, so the local and state security forces and bodies reviewed today the self-protection plan designed by the City Council to ensure the correct development of the festive activities in these days. The heads of the different police forces closed the different issues related to the security, organization and control of traffic included in this plan, which provides for the assembly of a joint operation between the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Baiona, which will also have the reinforcement of other local police.
The festivities will take place on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 March, from 10 to 00h, and on Sunday 3, from 10 to 22h. The Government subdelegate wanted to thank the security forces and bodies for their work and to offer the City of Baiona “the full collaboration of the Government Subdelegation”.
