The Ministry of Industry and Tourism, through the Secretary of State for Industry, has convened for next Friday, January 26 the follow-up commission of Alcoa. This was conveyed by the Secretary of State for Industry, Rebeca Torró, to the representatives of the Alcoa Works Council, who met today by videoconference.
Industria has had different conversations with the company, as it was agreed to proceed in the last follow-up committee held in December, so that the company would transfer to the Government of Spain the concretion of its needs to draw up a road map in view of the current situation that the plant is going through.
Torró highlighted during the meeting the firm commitment of the Government to work for the aluminum industry in Galicia and for a strategic company such as Alcoa, both for the region and for the rest of Spain, and this is what he wanted to convey to the workers.
The next follow-up committee will address, among other issues, the analysis of the financial situation of the San Cibrao plant in Lugo and the status of implementation of the signed agreements.
