Ourense, January 17, 2024.- The Subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, has traveled this morning to the City of Vilamartín de Valdeorras. There he held a collaborative meeting with the mayor, Enrique Álvarez, to analyze and supervise the state projects in this municipality, show the maximum interinstitutional collaboration and meet the demands of the mayor and the municipal corporation of the city.
Emilio González highlighted the work that is being done in Vilamartín through the Hydrographic Confederation. It consists of the improvement of the right margin of the river Sil in "O Bañadoiro". In this way, the space of the 2.5 m wide bike path and also of the general walk will be recovered on stabilized ground. As well as the adequacy of the green spaces already existing.
He announced that "next week all railway elements still in the area where the accident occurred will be removed" and "the road and access to the place where the derailment occurred will be improved." Adif will be in charge of removing during this coming week the railway material that remained on the track after the derailment occurred last September of 2023 and will repair the firmness of the transit route close to the railway tracks.
During the meeting, the subdelegate of the Government took the opportunity to get to know first-hand the projects that are being carried out in the town hall. Specifically in the route of the municipalities of Camiño de Inverno, in this case, for the improvement of the roads between Vilamartín and A Rúa.
The mayor, Enrique Álvarez, current president of the Association of Municipalities of Camiño de Inverno, conveyed to the subdelegate information about the project already carried out to strengthen the momentum.
The subdelegate undertakes to study and adopt the necessary measures to advance all the projects in force in the city; “The Government of the State will always be there committed”. And also urge the Xunta to commit to improving the corresponding part.
Emilio González put Vilamartín de Valdeorras as an example of the government’s commitment to small municipalities, “which are called to be protagonists of the transformation of Spain towards a green, digital, sustainable and cohesive country, to achieve the objectives of the demographic challenge.”
Along these lines, he has reviewed with the mayor other projects in the town, such as the rehabilitation and energy efficiency improvement works, which are carried out through the DUS5000 program, financed with the funds of the Recovery Plan and designed precisely so that the smaller municipalities can face improvements that result in the neighborhood and that would otherwise not be in a position to execute.
He detailed that the UNICO-Broadband Program will facilitate the broadband connection with ultra-fast speed to 132 populated centers, which will cover a total of 511 real estate units of which 429 are homes, which in practice means the complete digitalization of the municipal territory providing access with speeds of 300Mbs.
