The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, visited in Allariz the workshop of Inés Rodríguez, RIR&CO Deseño Téxtil, which won the National Handicraft Award 2023 in the Product category for its ‘D-Leite’ blanket, made from dairy waste. The delegate took advantage of the visit to congratulate the winner for this award and to know more details of this handmade product made in Galicia.
In particular, Pedro Blanco was able to check the specifications of the ‘D-Leite’ blanket made with milk protein fiber that, in addition to being hypoallergenic and beneficial to the skin, his odor can produce beneficial neurological effects in the baby by remembering breastfeeding.
As the delegate explained, the National Craft Awards, convened by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through the School of Industrial Organization (EOI), aim to contribute to the development and competitiveness of SMEs in the craft sector, as well as encourage innovation, design and their ability to adapt to the purchased.
In its 2023 edition, Galicia achieved a special prominence by winning awards in three different categories and a fourth finalist mention within the total of five categories that make up the contest. So, the cestero Álvaro M. Leiro, from Pazos de Borbén, received the National Craft Award; the weaving workshop of Inés Rodríguez won in the category of Product, and the third recognition was for the Xunta de Galicia, in the category Promotion for Public Entities, for 'Corazón da Artesanía', a Galician craft meeting held in the Pendellos da Golada. Además, la cestera Julia da Cal, de O Porriño, quedó finalista en la categoría Emprendimiento.
