The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, held a meeting today to analyze the data related to the interventions made in the year 2023, in compliance with the Master Plan for the Improvement of Coexistence and Security that is carried out in schools and institutes of the province; as well as to gather suggestions and needs aimed at improving it.
Xosé Lois García Carballido, Director of the Arena of High Inspection of Education; José Manuel Alfeiran Rodríguez, High Inspector of Functional Arena; as well as the Secretary General of the Government Delegation, Alberto De la Fuente Seoane, participated in the meeting with the subdelegate.
María Rivas highlighted, compared to the previous year, the great increase in participation and development of activities of the Master Plan for Coexistence in schools. “This Plan aims to educate students in equality and respect in order to prevent, detect and face situations that affect their safety and well-being,” said Rivas.
The data provided by the subdelegate reflect that during the year 2023, agents specialized in training of the Civil Guard and National Police visited a total of 359 schools in A Coruña, 68 more than in 2022, to carry out activities aimed at promoting values such as equality and respect among students.
To this end, in 2023 they carried out a total of 1,920 activities within the Master Plan, 16 more than in the previous year, and the theme of these activities depends on the demand of the centers in which it is developed. Thus, 654 activities were related to new technologies and cybersecurity, 541 to bullying, 148 to gender-based violence and 234 to drugs and alcohol.
With respect to participation, the activities had a total of 38,180 students among the different centers of the province.
The data analyzed in the meeting, reflect a notable increase that reflects the participation of the families of the students and members of the faculty compared to 2022: while in the past year a total of 549 relatives and legal guardians of the students and 602 members of the faculty participated in the activities, in the year 2023 these figures reached 1,379 and 1,950 respectively.
In this line, María Rivas wanted to thank the great involvement of the students’ families, as well as that of the teachers, since they constitute “a basic pillar for the educational and personal training of the youth of the centers”. He also pointed out as “essential” the role played by the Security Forces and Corps in matters of prevention and in the development of the Master Plan.
The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña also indicated that during this week the Autonomous Commission of Monitoring of the Master Plan will take place, in which the data corresponding to the first quarter of the academic year 2023-2024 will be analyzed.
