The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, attended today the institutional act of renewal of the accreditation of Campus of Specialization of the Industrial Campus of Ferrol that took place in the Conference Room of the Battalions Building of Ferrol. The event was chaired by the Rector of the University of A Coruña, Julio Abalde; the Admiral of the Arsenal of Ferrol, Ignacio Frutos, and the General Secretary of Universities of the Xunta de Galicia, José Alberto Díez.
The deputy delegate wanted to convey her congratulations to the UDC’s Board of Directors for the renewal of the accreditation “which makes the Ferrol Industrial Campus a key piece for the economic dynamization and improvement of Ferrol’s competitiveness” and for the “professional training work”.
In this sense, he also wanted to recognize the importance of the involvement in this project of the Military Arsenal of Ferrol and Navantia, since “it is turning Ferrol into a dynamizing pole for the whole region, and favoring modernization through the transfer of knowledge from the University to the productive fabric”, also transforming Ferrol into an academic point of reference in everything related to R+D+I in the industrial sector.
The Ferrol industrial campus obtained its accreditation in March 2021 that remains in force until the year 2024, and is the first of the university system of Galicia and Spain to achieve this seal of quality. The teaching offer focuses on the teaching and scientific fields and includes six centers in which 14 degrees are taught, nine official master’s degrees and six doctoral programs in the naval and oceanic and industrial branches.
The Battalion Building of Ferrol, former Residence of Officers, was ceded by the Ministry of Defense to the Universidade da Coruña to host the new facilities of the Industrial Campus of Ferrol.
