Ourense, December 6, 2023.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, valued the Constitution as the "supreme figure of the institutional consensus and one of the most useful instruments for the coexistence and defense of the human, social and economic values and territories of our country." In addition, he called for "the reflection, celebration and renewal of the commitment" to the Constitution.
He expressed this during the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution, held this morning in the Municipal Auditorium of Ourense and which featured the musical performance of the Verín Music Band.
During his speech, Emilio González called on young people as main protagonists to build a new society based on the fundamental rights, duties and values of the Constitution, providing a new vision and perspective. González said that the purpose of the Constitution is to be a living instrument that responds to a changing and vertiginous society such as the one we live in.
“The youth pursues a more modern, participatory, inclusive society with new challenges marked by the security of new technologies and artificial intelligence, cultural pluralism, solidarity and equality, respect for others and the care and sustainability of the environment,” said the deputy delegate. The Constitution must remain the horizon so that young people can continue to "expand rights" in our country.
On the other hand, the subdelegate emphasized that the Magna Carta should not be subject to partisan appropriation. "The Constitution belongs to everyone and all democrats fit into it" and he appealed that "thinking or seeing differently" the present and the future is an "essential act for the progress and progress" of a country.
Forty-five years ago it served to provide answers to the challenges of an historic moment, and it served to the challenges that followed the spirit of ’78, born in a pioneering Spain in the defense of fundamental rights and civil liberties and building a modern, feminist, diverse, enterprising, supportive and fair society, open to the world we are today.
To conclude, Emilio González, expressed that moving forward together and together in our differentiation must be our horizon to achieve a better Spain; "Knowing and respecting the Constitution", remains the fundamental principle on which this celebration is based.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
During the event, the prizes of the 39th edition of the Spanish Constitution Contest were given to 20 students of the province for their drawings, photographs and videos, focused on the fundamental rights and duties contained in the Constitution, which this year were open to all the text is articulated.
Ten prizes were awarded in the category of Infant, Primary and Special Education, which received a gift and a copy of the Spanish Constitution; and 10 in the category of Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Medium Cycles of Professional Training and University. These students received a Cultural Bonus.
The deputy delegate of the Government pointed out that the students are the "alma mater of this act, interpreting with sensitivity and accuracy in their work the fundamental rights and duties of the Spanish." Likewise, Emilio González thanked the involvement of the educational community and the sponsors in the contest, "because they share with us the need to show the youngest people the richness and importance of the precepts contained in our Constitution."
On the other hand, the recognitions in this 45th anniversary of the Constitution were granted to the BRIF of Laza, for its action in the extinguishment of forest fires in a flooded province such as Ourense and the involvement of its personnel and humanitarian work and international missions; to the Juan Sueño Foundation, for its work of integration with the foreign population in Ourense; to Caritas Ourense, for its work with the most vulnerable people in the management, monitoring and labor insertion of the preceptors of the Minimum Vital Income and to D. Juan Blanco, for the rescue action carried out on the River Miño in August of this year.
