The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo highlighted today at the opening of the XXVII Technical Conference Diffusion Fishing Sector the scope of the meeting to put on the table the issues that most matter to the sector throughout Galicia, as well as discuss and talk about solutions to the problems exposed. The subdelegate affirmed that this event enjoys great importance for the community and that it highlights the repercussions of the port of Celeiro and its fishermen and workers.
The subdelegate thanked that such an important sector for the economy of Galicia and for the Mariña area celebrates these days to talk about the issues that concern them, as well as to put a stop to them and give them solutions. Among the topics discussed in the first part of the day were the challenges of the industry, measures to increase consumption, VAT on fish, the commitment of the fishing sector and the importance of data.
The subdelegate said that “the sector will be listened to during the three days that the days last, preparing actions to address the situations that most concern the fishing employers face more desired positions, as well as improving the working conditions and everything related to them through the situational analysis”.
In addition, Isabel Rodríguez highlighted the importance of this event for the port of Celeiro, “synonymous with an image of good doing and success in the industry, which is exemplified in its catches and fleet”, thus representing with these words the campaign of hake, one of the most important species with which they work, taking 85% of the turnover of the market.
With respect to the producer sector, the Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, published a call for aid to producer organizations and their associations endowed with 14 million euros, which will allow the objectives of the Common Market Organization (CMO) to be achieved, through the measures promoted by the organizations of fishery and aquaculture products through their production and marketing plans.
