The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, recalled during the placement of the banner that announces the week of 25N the importance of awareness and prevention of gender violence. “A work that must be carried out constantly, as we do from the subdelegation with the different campaigns and actions developed throughout the year,” explained together with the head of the Gender Violence unit of the Subdelegation, María Luisa Castro.
Isabel Rodríguez affirmed that “gender violence is one of the main issues of the state” and confirmed her commitment and that of the subdelegation to “continue with the initiatives and programs that are being promoted for different groups of society in all the municipalities of the province.”
The subdelegate also argued the need for cooperation between the different administrations to provide a coordinated response to male violence, also highlighting the need for prevention in education and social awareness.
Subdelegation Campaigns
Rodríguez reviewed the actions carried out by the subdelegation and the Government delegation in this matter, starting at the beginning of the year with the organization of the day entitled “Actions of the Labor Inspection in favor of Labor Equality”, taught by the Labor Inspector, Olalla Ferreiro and directed to the social services of the municipalities and associations on the occasion of 8M.
One of the main campaigns carried out was that of the MAVI: the Viaxera suitcase against gender violence, traveling this year to the municipalities of Quiroga, Meira and Vilalba. In addition, several awareness campaigns were carried out in different media and places for the use of the Alertcops App, distributing application manuals to the professionals of the Master Plan, so that in their talks they can deliver them to the students.
In the municipalities, actions were carried out to disseminate the State strategy against male violence and the available resources, sending them summary brochures of the strategy, posters and a letter indicating the page where to download the strategy in full.
The schools also received an awareness campaign through a guide to action against male violence, sending the 213 schools, institutes and FP centers of the province two guides and a QR to be able to download them digitally, as well as more resources of interest.
On the part of the delegation, two actions were carried out in the province of Lugo. The first of these was the presentation of the Campaign “No Caminas Sola” in the municipalities of Lourenzá and Vilalba to prevent male violence on the Camino de Santiago. The second, refers to the training day on November 7 aimed at the State Security Forces and Local Police attached to VIOGEN, with relays focused on the protection of victims, telematic control devices of measures and penalties of estrangement.
