The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the important deployment of human and technical resources that the Community will have to guarantee the safe circulation of the State Road Network during the current winter campaign. There are a total of 104 snow removal machines, one more than last year, more than 21,000 tons of salt and more than 3.2 million liters of brine.
The device designed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda seeks, as the delegate explained, “to keep in operation and in safety conditions the 2,500 kilometers of conventional roads, highways and highways of state ownership, of which 537 kilometers are in this province of Pontevedra”. To this end, 309 road maintenance workers will also be deployed, in addition to the workers of the General Directorate of Traffic, the Civil Guard and the other State Security Forces and Corps.
Pedro Blanco made these statements during the visit to the Folgoso Tunnel Control Center, where he supervised the means intended for this campaign in this section of the State Road Network.
The special device for the winter campaign was activated on November 1 and will remain operational until April 30, 2023. The media are available in different conservation centers located in strategic points of the state road network in Galicia.
Pedro Blanco also appealed to the prudence of the Galicians and the Galicians at the beginning of the winter campaign on the roads, which will last until next April. “We all have to pay attention to the conditions of the vehicles and adapt the driving to the situation of the road and the climate in these more complicated months,” he said.
A Cañiza Conservation Sector
The government delegate checked the available means at the Conservation and Exploitation Center located next to the Folgoso Tunnel Control Center. From this center, sensitive points such as the Alto de A Cañiza (600 m) on the La-52 and the Alto de Fontefrio (790 m) on the N-120 are served. On this visit he was accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra in office, María Isabel Alonso; the mayor of A Cañiza, Luis Piña; and the head of the State Road Demarcation in Galicia, Ángel González.
