The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted this morning in the Concello de Foz the government’s commitment to the conservation and improvement of the Galician coastline, with an investment of more than 68 million euros. It did so during the supervision of the already completed works of the pedestrian path between the beaches of Peizás and A Pampillosa, with a contribution of 886,000 euros. “An action financed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge that demonstrates the commitment of the Government to the value of the natural resources of the Concello de Foz, within its commitment to the economic and tourist dynamization of A Mariña, and that falls within the 4.4 million euros projected for different works in the province of Lugo,” said the delegate.
Pedro Blanco checked the result of the works accompanied by the mayor of Foz, Francisco Cajoto, the subdelegate in the province, Isabel Rodríguez, and the provincial head of Costas, José Miguel Estevan. The delegate stressed that “the incorporation of these lands for use and enjoyment of the neighbors of both Foz and the region of A Mariña will allow to enjoy this pedestrian path of about 1,600 meters, exploring new strips of the coast and taking advantage of the valuable natural resources that this city has.”
The delegate wanted to thank “the collaboration and work of the mayor of Foz, Francisco Cajoto, in order to continue to transform this concello into a more friendly place with tourist attractions that coexist in perfect harmony with nature.” In this sense, the passage of the land to the public domain and the completion of the works “demonstrate the Government’s commitment to the conservation and improvement of the coast of A Mariña, also promoting sustainable tourism and respectful of the environment”.
During the visit, they also reviewed some of the actions already completed, such as the recovery of the dunar system in A Pampillosa, with a budget of 80,000 euros, and also others that are still in progress, referring to the improvements on the beach of Llas with an investment of more than 320,000 euros.
Pedestrian footpath in Foz
The works financed by the Government on the coast of Foz consisted of the creation of a pedestrian path between the beaches of Peizás and A Pampillosa, in expropriated lands that went to use the public domain for this purpose.
With a length of 1,600 meters, the new road will allow the definitive closure of the already existing promenade along the coast, between the beach of Os Fondás, in the estuary of Foz, and the interior of the estuary of the Ouro. These new works allow a continuous route of a walk of about 15 km from Barreiros to A Pampillosa.
