The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated this morning in the opening ceremony of the XXVII Autonomous Games of Basketball Special Olympics that took place in the Sports Palace of Riazor, and in which a total of 16 centers or associations of the four provinces participated.
In her speech at the opening ceremony of the Games, a subdelegate of the Government wanted to add value to the activity developed by Special Olympics, “because to continue advancing towards that more diverse, fair, inclusive and accessible society is a commitment of the Government”, and in what we need of entities and people committed to achieve it”.
In the same way, María Rivas, reported that “disability cannot be seen as an individual difficulty or challenge, to which each person has to seek an answer; it is a collective problem that reaches all of us”, forcing all institutions and entities of the sector “to rethink together how the spaces of coexistence should be, so that they respond to the needs of the world in which we live”.
All the entities present in the act, made the corresponding parade of teams, proceeded to the oath Special Olympics “I want to win, but if I don’t get it, let me be brave in the attempt”
In line with this slogan, the Government’s subdelegate wanted to highlight that “sport in general, and today especially basketball” is the space in which “you show that you do want you can; that you are willing; that you are strong people and that sports values also help inclusion”
Finally he wanted the day to be successful indicating that on days like this we all win.
