The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, attended the events scheduled for the Day of the Delegation of Defense in Galicia that were held in Porto de A Coruña on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of its creation. The event was presided over by the delegate of Defense of Galicia, Colonel Antonio Bernal, who was in charge of inaugurating the event with the reading of the Decree of the Delegation of Defense.
María Rivas presented an official diploma in recognition of her work as Honorary Reservist to Don José Jesús Pereiro Varela, a distinction that was also received by Don José Angel Martínez López, Don Francisco Prado Vilares and Doña Dolores Núñez Jiménez. In this regard, the subdelegate emphasized “the responsibility they exercise for the protection of the rights and freedoms of all people, sustaining the maintenance of social peace”
The event also included the delivery of rewards and decorations to recognize the work performed by the different military in their respective fields and to recognize their history and trajectory. María Rivas congratulated the honorees “because in them we find the essence of the work of Defense, a merit that must be recognized.”
It was also held at the awards ceremony of the school literary contest, in which the student Manuela Anido Gómez, of the Eirís School, who read her letter during the course of the event, was awarded. Students from La Salle, Colegio Grande Obra Atocha, Colegio Maristas, Colegio Peñarredonda, Colegio Liceo De La Paz and Instituto Monte de las Moas were also awarded.
We also wanted to make a distinction to two institutions such as the IES Sabón and the IFEE “Busines School” for their extensive collaboration and participation in the activities programmed from Defense.
María Rivas took the opportunity to thank the Galician Defense Delegation for its work, “which has been working for almost 30 years to make visible and bring closer to the citizens the services that are carried out in the Armed Forces, as well as the tasks of heritage control and staff support.”
The event ended with a tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain, the winner and finalists of the literary contest together with the Delegate of Defense in Galicia, carried out the placement of the laurel crown.
No event was attended by different civil and military authorities such as the Chief General of the 15th Zone of the Civil Guard; the Subdelegates of Defense of Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra; the Military Commander of A Coruña, among others.
