The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, met this morning with the new director of Education of the Government Delegation in Galicia, Xosé Lois García Carballido. At the meeting, both supervised the beginning of the course of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers. Pedro Blanco said that the Government Delegation already has 900 requests from educational centers throughout Galicia to host talks and training activities.
The plan, coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior, reinforces this year the training on protection and prevention of the risks associated with new technologies, focusing on these new ways to exercise violence, such as social networks and other digital services. In addition to these activities, the centers can also choose training actions such as bullying, violence against women, drugs, alcohol, other additions (gambling, video games...), nature protection, hate crimes and discrimination, road safety, prevention of sexual crimes, professional guidance and legal protection of personal data.
During the academic year 2022/2023, the Master Plan was implemented in 1,228 educational centers in Galicia with 4,096 activities and talks, increasing the number of attendees by 51.5%. Thus, 125,134 people members of the educational community participated. Of these, 115,430 were students, 6,547 teachers and 3,157 parents or guardians.
This operational programme, which is implemented in coordination with the Xunta and Fegamp, is taught by agents of the National Police and Civil Guard, who maintain close contact with the educational centres and receive specific training for each activity.
In January there will be a meeting of the Autonomous Monitoring Commission in which there will be a balance of how the talks are developing. The centers can continue to make requests throughout the course, so the data is provisional.
