The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, wants to transfer the information related to the activities scheduled for the commemoration of 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The subdelegate expresses the commitment of the Government in the fight against male violence, an action that is carried out every day of the year, “the fight against gender violence is a task of 365 days a year, although we place special focus on the month of November on the occasion of 25N”.
As the subdelegate stressed, the fight against male violence is a priority for this Government and for this Subdelegation from all areas: working together with the State Security Forces and Bodies, prevention, the Master Plan in schools, the establishment of institutional coordination tables against male violence, or raising awareness through the Travelling Suitcase, which already has 5 municipalities in the province and a Social Insertion Center throughout this year.
The planned activities aim to contribute to making visible multiple forms of violence against women, as well as providing tools for reflection and debate around the perception that young people have of it.
In this sense, one of the programmed activities will be a day at the Faculty of Audiovisual Communication and Sociology entitled “Communication and Gender Violence”. The chosen day is November 27, at the event there will be space for the exhibition but also for the debate and professionals from the world of communication, the production of audiovisual content and also representatives of the association of women victims of gender violence will participate.
Another of the actions aimed at young people, has to do with a campaign that will take place during the week of November 25, through the social networks of the Government Delegation.
Also, on November 23, there will be a radio program that will be recorded at the Social Insertion Center of A Coruña “Carmela Arias and Diaz de Rábago”, in which users of the center participate and through activities and a joint interview with the Subdelegate.
The activities are completed with the provision to the municipalities of the province of the program “Travelling suitcase against gender violence – MAVI”, and which will have a first stop on the 6th in Santa Comba. This initiative promotes reading and, through the books that make up the suitcase, promotes reflection, awareness and awareness on issues such as violence against women, equality, and gender stereotypes and roles.
The subdelegate of the Government will participate in various events such as the Conference organized by the Government Delegation V Training Day for State Security Forces and Bodies: “The Protection of victims, telematic control devices of measures and penalties of estrangement. Difficulties and solution”; the award ceremony of the Meninas Awards; the inauguration of an exhibition in the Metrosidero ships; the joint reading of the Manifesto that will take place on the 24th in the Government Delegation, and a training day organized by FADEMUR Galicia with the association of Frades Women.
At the institutional level, it is planned that in the next few days the municipalities of Pontedeume and Miño will sign the protocol of accession to the Viogen System, one of the priorities for the subdelegate of the Government, with which two more municipalities will be added to the 22 currently adhered to Viogen. The Local Inter-Agency Coordination Committee against Gender Violence will be set up in the municipality of Neda, with which there will already be 34 tables in the province; and the relevant meeting of the Provincial Technical Commission for Coordination on Gender Violence will be convened, with the assistance of all the bodies of the General Administration of the State with competence in the matter.
As in previous years, the headquarters of the Government Subdelegation will display a banner on the balcony in the week of 25 in rejection of gender violence.
