Parada de Sil (Ourense), October 30, 2023.- The Subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, highlights the great reception that the second call for the INECO RuralTic program of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda of the Government had in the municipality of Parada Sil. The visit was accompanied by the mayor, Aquilino Domínguez.
The program is included in the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. Its objective is to contribute to the social and economic digitalization of society living in rural environments, thus breaking down the possible barriers that keep these centers away from new technologies. In this way, we can ensure that the population can maintain communication with relatives in isolated areas or carry out administrative procedures through a mobile device.
In the first call, the engineers and architects who carried out the program in Parada de Sil settled in the town hall for a week. There they met with the SMEs of the area to train them in the digital issue; social networks, applications, digital certificates… Where they were also able to give administrative technical support and guidance in the city council.
Emilio González values the success of the reception in this second call of the program and the participation of the municipalities of the province, which are already 6. Parada de Sil is the only town hall in the province of Ourense that repeats in the second call . The visits of professionals will begin next November.
The deputy delegate of the Government encouraged the municipalities of the province to join this program and stressed that "for municipalities with a smaller population it is a magnificent opportunity to end the digital divide and promote social cohesion." In addition, Emilio González stressed that RuralTIC is a program from which small and medium-sized enterprises in municipalities can also benefit "through advice on new technologies provided by agents who move to the municipality."
This initiative is based on two fundamental axes, on the one hand social digitalization and on the other economic digitalization.
In terms of social digitization, agents provide training and support in the use of new technologies to residents, with special attention to the elderly population. The staff of Ineco develops different face-to-face workshops, such as the management of the online service for the execution of administrative procedures: medical appointment management or electronic banking.
In addition, they also provide training to learn about aspects of Internet security or digital footprint and offer personalized attention according to the specific needs of the participants.
The second axis, economic digitization, provides support and advice to the rural business fabric, through digital positioning, with support to the creation of online services that can improve the activity of SMEs, such as the opening of a website or the use of profiles in Social Networks for positioning in the digital world.
