The subdelegate of the Government, Isabel Rodríguez, made today a visit to the city of Guntín to observe the scope in the municipality of the actions to improve the energy efficiency of the IDAE and Broadband connectivity, with a total investment of 372,651 euros. The Government “makes the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan reach the municipalities, in this case those of the province of Lugo that are part of the Demographic Challenge, thus expanding their financing possibilities in terms of renewable energy and digitalization”.
In her visit to the municipality, the subdelegate was able to see, together with the mayor, María José Gómez, the footprint that these funds are leaving, “especially for Guntín, a city council integrated in the Demographic Challenge,” in order that the territories of less than 5,000 inhabitants “have more access to services and resources, expanding possibilities and equal opportunities for the neighborhood of smaller population centers.”
The subdelegate stressed that this investment allows the city of Guntín “to advance in development actions, equalizing many of the projects to the provincial capitals, making a town more pleasant and comfortable for its inhabitants.” With this, it is intended to stop the process of depopulation “that the rural has suffered for a long time and we believe that it is possible by approaching initiatives that innovate and allow the municipality to move forward and adapt to the changes that are flowing in society, such as the deployment of fiber infrastructures”.
Isabel Rodríguez checked the projects carried out by the IDAE in recent years through the DUS5000 program, in which the exterior lighting facilities were renovated in the parishes of San Cibrao de Monte de Meda, Sano Roman de la Twicida, Santa Cruz de la Twicida, Vilamea, Zolle, Chao del Monte, Francos, Leboriz, Mougán, Outeiro, Piñeiras, Santoalla, Berlai, Corredoira, approaching 287,646 euros. The program, managed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, promotes energy efficiency actions in the different localities of the province.
“The neighbors of the municipality already have a more sustainable lighting that allows economic savings and that moves towards the essential energy transition,” added the subdelegate with respect to the plans carried out by the program.
Together with the DUS5000 program, Guntín also has 86,004 euros of the Single Plan – Broadband, which is intended to deploy a broadband at 100 Mbps for all the inhabitants of the town. The plan values giving internet access with this speed to 3,080 homes and companies marking “a new milestone to bring this indispensable service to areas that will help fix population, stopping the increasingly urgent despoboation”.
