Ourense, October 19, 2023.- The Subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, went to the City of Muiños this morning. There he held a meeting with the mayor, Plácido Álvarez, to supervise the state investments in this municipality, show the maximum interinstitutional collaboration and meet the demands of the mayor and the municipal corporation of the city council.
During the meeting, the subdelegate of the Government took the opportunity to get to know first-hand the project of the heliportada fire base of the Xurés, specifically the progress in the works of the new comprehensive fire base of Galicia that are being carried out thanks to the European funds that the government transfers to autonomous communities through the React Eu fund created by the European Commission to mitigate the effects of the pandemic and allocate to socially and ecologically sustainable projects.
Emilio González put Muiños as an example of the government’s commitment to small municipalities, “which are called to be protagonists of the transformation of Spain towards a green, digital, sustainable and cohesive country, to achieve the objectives of the demographic challenge.”
Public lighting efficiency
In the same green transition line, the subdelegate included the aid granted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the Institute for Energy Diversification IDAE. This aid amounted to more than 280,000 euros and with it the local government faced the energy improvement of the municipal lighting of this city.
The action, which is currently in its second phase, consists of the replacement of traditional type luminaires with LED type luminaires of greater performance and efficiency, along with the replacement of control panels.
High Speed Internet Coverage
Emilio González also advanced the impact of the investments in digitalization that the Government is implementing, through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, and that will also reach Muiños. This action is part of the UNICO-Broadband Program, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government.
He detailed that the UNICO-Broadband Program will facilitate the ultra-fast broadband connection to 235 population centers, which will cover a total of 1,465 real estate units of which 1,223 are homes, which in practice means the complete digitization of the municipal territory by providing access with speeds of 300 Mbs.
