The Government’s programme of activities for reading animation in Secondary Schools reaches 13 Galician schools

The Ministry of Culture and Sport, through the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading, is launching a new edition of the programme of literary activities in Secondary Education Institutes of public ownership, which will reach 13 Galician schools.

The project, which takes place in Galicia between 24 October and 15 November, has the participation of Paula Carballeira Cabana (recently awarded the National Prize for Dramatic Literature), Manuel Loureiro Doval, Miriam Ferradáns Ferradás, Manuel Cráneo, María Sánchez Rodríguez, Manuel Carlos Núñez Singala, Jesús Castro Yáñez, Alba Cid, Chiki Fabregat and Cristina García Morales.

During these literary meetings the authors will talk about their work and their creative processes and maintain an open dialogue with the students.

With more than two decades of experience, this program of reading animation offers students the opportunity to get to know the work of narrators, poets, playwrights, illustrators or translators, and it is an opportunity for the participating authors to take the pulse of the interests of the reading children.

The meetings will take place in the four provinces: in A Coruña, in the center A Picota de Mazaricos, in Coristanco and Boqueixón as well as in the capital of Cordoba, Castroverde, Quiroga and Meira, in Lugo. In the province of Ourense they will be held in two HEIs of the Ourense capital and also in Allariz, while in Pontevedra they will take place in a center of Lalín and two in Cangas de Morrazo.

In choosing the proposed activities, priority should be given to those institutes that are participating for the first time in the program or that did not have activity the previous year. Asimismo, se valoró la diversidad entre géneros literarios (narrativa, poesía, teatro, ensayo…), la variedad de la trayectoria del autor o autora o la paridad.
