Ourense, October 2, 2023.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, presided this morning the event of the Day of the Guardian Angels, on the occasion of the patronage of the National Police and celebrated that Ourense "is among the safest provinces in our country". He thanked the National Police Force for the "tireless work they do every day, but especially the work done this year to ensure the correct and safe development of the electoral processes we have had." He asked them to continue the effort to reduce crime in the province to continue with a safe and pleasant environment and to try to eradicate behaviors that are born of sexism and inequality so that no woman will be murdered again as a result of these machista attitudes.
Emilio González recalled the "clear commitment" of the Government of Spain and the "faithful commitment" of the Ministry of the Interior, which in 2023 achieved the "historical record" of agents that make up the Security Forces in Galicia, surpassing the replacement rate of 100 per 100 with more than 9,000 police in the community and more than 100 agents since 2017 in the province, so not only are they more effective in the national security in the streets, but also ensuring to improve the attention to citizens with services such as the exploitation of the Boat Identification Office of Valdeorras.
The deputy delegate also recalled that the Government continues to work in a transversal way to achieve real equality between women and men in the National Police, where a package of positive action measures is being promoted with the aim of achieving by 2030 more than 40% of women in promotions for access to the National Police Force.
Emilio González awarded two Crosses to Police Merit with a White Distinction, a Cross to Dedication to Police Service, a Medal to Dedication to Police Service and a Recognition to Institutional Collaboration. The deputy delegate congratulated Josefina Ulloa, head of the Immigration unit of the Government subdelegation, who received a Medal and Recognition for Institutional Collaboration.
The event was also attended by Juan Cástor Vázquez Salgado, Provincial Chief Commissioner of the National Police Force, Miguel Ángel Santalices Vieira, President of the Parliament of Galicia, Gonzalo Pérez Jácome, Mayor of the City Council, Luis Menor Pérez, President of the Provincial Council, Eva Regueiro Rodríguez, Chief Prosecutor of the Provincial High Court and Rafael Berguillo Esquina, Internal Chief Commander of the Civil Guard.
