The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today highlighted the intense support of the Government to the Terra Campus of the USC, which is exemplified with the help of 13,000 euros that the Ministry of Science and Innovation approached the University for the project "Science to the Fair. He did so during the presentation this Monday of this initiative that offers talks and workshops of researchers on scientific topics that may interest the different municipalities of the province.
The subdelegate, accompanied by authorities and researchers, congratulated the University for the development of this program, being an important means to bring “scientific information to all sectors, be more or less familiar with this type of teaching, universalizing and allowing everyone to have access to it.”
It also recognized the impetus and support towards the rural environment, having the support in this type of programs and encouraged the other sectors and agents linked to the scientific field to participate in similar projects and #convocatoria, to approach a population that does not have direct contact with them and that helps the dissemination of the sector.
Isabel Rodríguez stressed that projects like this make the rural area more autonomous, providing cooperation between them and the University, improving and benefiting both parts of the union, wishing that programs of this kind are “a germ of new initiatives of scientific dissemination in this province.”
Day-to-day talks
The project consists of a series of talks and workshops to be held in the municipalities of Burela, Muras, Mondoñedo, Friol, Navia de Suarna, O Incio, Pobra do Brollón and Sober, with the intention of bringing these topics of interest closer despite being far from the University.
Among the issues to be developed are “Tick-borne diseases”, “Sustainable water management” and “Plant propagation and its implications”. The way to carry out the activities is through posts and distributing didactic material on the subject, as well as workshops in premises authorized by the municipalities.
