The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, met this week with the acting head of the State Coast Demarcation in Galicia, Carlos Gil, with whom he supervised the investments of this department in the province of A Coruña and took stock of his management work. At the meeting, the delegate stressed that the public management of the coast acts “with the utmost respect and responsibility, incorporating in advance the challenges of the effects of climate change while being compatible with the recovery of the impacts to which the coast has been subjected in recent decades.”
The government delegate stressed that the portfolio of projects of the State Coast Demarcation exceeds 60 million euros of investment in regeneration, protection and environmental recovery actions on the coast of the province of A Coruña. Of these budgets, EUR 36.7 million are already being implemented, EUR 7.2 million are of next action and the rest of the funds correspond to projects in different stages of processing.
Pedro Blanco and Carlos Gil supervised the implementation of the dredging and environmental regeneration project of the Burgo estuary. The delegate stressed that this project is the largest project implemented by the Government on the Spanish coast in its history.
Management effort
At the meeting, the delegate highlighted the work of management of the public domain carried out by the Demarcation on its back from the office of A Coruña and which responds to the commitment of the Government to carry out a comprehensive, orderly and responsible management of the coast.
This work translates this year into more than 1,000 files and reports processed and/or issued by the Demarcation in the province of A Coruña. Of this total, Pedro Blanco put the tilde in that more than 60% corresponded to authorizations and concessions of different kinds compared to only 0.5% of sanctioning files.
Acting Head
Carlos Gil Villar is part of the Corps of Engineers of Roads, Canals and Portos of the State in Galicia and until now occupied the position of technical conselleiro of the Demarcation of backs of the State in Galicia. He has been in charge of this body since last August after the retirement march of the previous boss.
