The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, traveled today to the Clarión and Brañas Verdes bookstores in Carballo to encourage young Corunnese girls and boys who, in 2023, turn 18 years old, register for the Cultural Bond before the end of the deadline, on September 30.
Thanks to this bonus, the Ministry of Culture and Sport makes available to young people, 400 euros that they can spend on different cultural products, both in physical support, books, albums or cd,s and in digital support, tickets to concerts, theatres or musical shows. The objective of the Government and to facilitate access to culture to all those who premiere their majority.
María Rivas wanted to visit these two bookstores that are attached to this program to publicize this opportunity to “consume culture” among young people who still do not know about the existence of this bond. “The Government is carrying out an important work of promotion so that no one is left without this extra-daily possibility that girls and boys have today.” The bonus can be requested until September 30 on the website www.bonoculturajoven.gob.es
As the subdelegate said, in the province of A Coruña there are already 5,397 young people and girls in the province who are currently benefiting from this initiative, which means a total of 2,158,800 euros invested. In addition, 21,414 purchases were made in the amount of 817,917.40 euros. “This is an important economic injection for the cultural industry, precisely one of the objectives pursued by the Government with this initiative,” said María Rivas.
So far in the province of A Coruña, there are 90 establishments attached to the Cultural Voucher, among which are bookshops, shops specializing in comics, music and movie theaters.
María Rivas stressed that this September 30 also ends the deadline for all those who turned 18 in 2022 “If you still have an unspent amount of your bonus, it is important that you remember that you have to do it now while your bonus is in force and you have that money available,” said the deputy delegate.

About the cultural bonus
From the granting of the aid, the beneficiaries have one year to use the 400 euros in cultural products or services in the affiliated establishments, which already exceed 3,000 throughout Spain.
The Cultural Voucher works with a prepaid card that beneficiaries can have in virtual format on their mobile device or in physical format that they will receive at home.
With this card you can enjoy cultural experiences and products, which are divided into three sections to favor diversification between the different cultural sectors, with the following distribution:
- 100 euros for physical products, for example books, press or discs
-100 euros for digital products: digital press, podcast, online video games
- 200 euros for performing arts: theater, opera, cinema, dance, museums.
Visit to the Rego da Balsa de Carballo Library
The assistant delegate took advantage of her visit to Carballo to visit the Muncipal Rego da Balsa library, one of the five Coruña libraries awarded with the María Moliner Prize from the Ministry of Culture and Sport for her work promoting reading.
The deputy delegate also visited Mayor Evencio Ferrero, the Councilor for Libraries, Angeles Pacoret, the Councilor for Culture, @Maruxa Suárez and the director of the technical team Ana Asensio.
María Rivas wanted to know at first hand the project presented to María Moliner under the title of “Libros de Carballo” (Books of Carballo), which includes the almost 150 activities that the library develops throughout the year and which have as their fundamental axis the promotion of reading.
The subdelegate congratulated all the team that integrates the library and thanked them for the effort they make to provide “creativity and passion” for all the initiatives aimed not only at promoting the senon reading of culture in general. “I am aware that your objective is for the library to be a structuring element in the cultural life of Carballo and for it to be a building full of life,” said the deputy delegate.
María Rivas also congratulated the team for the “Playa de los Libros” initiative that during the months of July and August, moves a mobile library to the beach of Razo that can be enjoyed by all the people who go to the sandy beach.
As the deputy delegate said, “the government’s commitment to culture is constant, with a very clear objective that is that anyone living in the place they live, has access to culture, has access to books, and in this sense public libraries play a fundamental role.”
In addition to Carballo, the libraries of four other municipalities in the province, Ares, Miño, Oleiros and Ortigueira were awarded the María Moliner, which in addition to the recognition has a financial endowment of 2,772.22 euros to invest in activities aimed at promoting reading.
The aim of this award is to reward libraries of municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants who carry out a project that includes reading animation, efficiency and library work, social integration in their community, as well as the use of new technologies.
