Ourense, August 25, 2023.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, highlights the work done by Adif in which there are no injuries and thanks his work and effort to remove and protect the roads to recover the maximum normality as soon as possible, highlighting the prompt action and coordination between Adif and the City Council to guarantee the safety of all citizens and restore the normality of traffic both by rail and by road. Since this morning the traffic has been restored by ADIF with the speed limit in the Vilamartín section of Valdeorras and A Rúa at 30 km/h.
In addition, the subdelegate stressed that "there is an intense commitment on the part of the Government to the conservation and maintenance and recovery of catenary lines, electrification and improvement of crossings and trenches," said González Afonso.
All the procedures and authorities are being carried out to recover and clarify the facts of the accident that occurred in Vilamartín de Valdeorras. The waste that may have been dumped is now in the hands of specialized companies.
The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense attended this morning to the scene in the town of Vilamartín de Valdeorras accompanied by the chief of operations of Adif in the province, Luis Palacios, and the mayor of the town, Enrique Álvarez.
Last Wednesday, August 23, four tanker carriages of a freight train partially derailed at km 305,600 of the Coruña–León railway ending in Vilamartín de Valdeorras, Ourense. The train was carrying dangerous goods such as hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydroxide and liquid argon.
