At 9:20 this morning, the 3,960 electoral tables that will host the General Elections in Galicia today were constituted. At that time the last opening of Galicia was registered at the table located in the old school of Sequeiros, in Valdoviño.
After 57 seconds of eight in the morning, the first two polling stations in Galicia were formed in the Bermes School, in Lalín (Pontevedra), and in the House of Culture of Albarellos, in Monterrei (Ourense). At 8 and 1 minutes the first polling stations were formed in the province of Lugo, in Xermade, and in the province of A Coruña, in the social premises of the former livestock society A Paraxe, in Narón. Lugo was the first province to have its 530 polling stations constituted at 9.02 a.m.
The opening was completed without any noticeable incidents. The most significant is that in the Sociocultural Center of Teo the first voter was incorporated as a member of the table.
Although the electoral census for this process in Galicia amounts to 2,688,623 people, 472,140 people are registered abroad (CERA census) and 139,068 people chose to exercise their right to vote by mail so the census called to go to the polls today is 2,077,415 people.
These elections will decide a total of 23 deputies and deputies: 8 in A Coruña, 7 in Pontevedra, 4 in Lugo and 4 in Ourense. They will also elect 16 senators: 4 by province, regardless of the senators elected by autonomous designation. In total, 38 candidacies were proclaimed for Congress and 34 for the Senate.
Galicia has 3,960 tables distributed in 2,350 electoral venues. There are 7,920 ballot boxes and 3,445 booths available to choose the ballot papers. In total, 29 million ballot papers were printed for Congress and 3 million ballot papers for the Senate. These tables are attended by 11,880 table members and 2,576 representatives of the Administration, who were responsible for verifying the correct opening of the tables, resolving incidents and collecting the data of participation and the vote count. In addition, some 300 people form the centers of electoral incidents in the Government Delegation and in the subdelegations of the Government in Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra that, in collaboration with the Electoral Boards, are attending to any need of the tables.
To ensure the safety of this day, the Government Delegation coordinates a device of 6,018 members of the State Security Forces and Corps. Of these, 1,730 belong to the National Police; 3,297 to the Civil Guard and 991 to the Local Police.
Results
There will be two advances in participation: at 14 and 18 hours. At 20 hours the tables will be closed and the counting will begin, adding the votes made at the table with the incorporation of the votes cast by mail.
The representatives of the Administration present at the tables will carry out the communication of the results, which can be followed in real time through the web of results of the general elections and the mobile application enabled by the Ministry of the Interior.
