The deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, presided this morning the Xunta Local de Seguridad in Cambados, together with the mayor of the town, Samuel Lago. The provincial chief colonel of the Civil Guard, Simón Venzal, and others responsible for the Local Police and municipal security also attended. The main theme of the meeting was related to the celebration of its traditional Fiesta del Viño Albariño that is celebrated from August 2 to 6 .
The meeting focused on promoting and coordinating all measures aimed at guaranteeing security in the locality during the development of the events from a multitudinous event that reaches its 21st edition.
Maica Larriba reviewed the operation necessary for the good development of these celebrations, maintaining her concern to continue working on the security of the multitudinous summer celebrations. Thus, the actions that are going to be carried out by the State Security Bodies and Forces involve the implementation of special traffic and operational controls at the accesses to Cambados, counting on land and air resources and the activation of alcohol and drug controls that serve as prevention due to the possible lack of responsibility of some drivers. In addition, they will support the local police officers, ensuring the good development of the festive activities.
On the other hand, the subdelegate thanked the City Council for the initiative to have a purple caravan during the festivities. It is a point of information, advice and help in any type of aggression or problem suffered by any person.
The purple caravan will have two professionals: A social worker who will inform the citizens about the different resources and a psychologist who will attend consultations, will accompany possible victims to the Health Center, or offer psychological care in case of possible incidents…
The caravan will intervene, for example, if a minor shows up to accompany her until an adult passes by to pick her up, if a child is lost, they will guard him until they pick him up, or if a woman is left alone she will have a safe place to be here.
Maica Larriba highlighted the commitment of the mayor, Samuel Lago, in favor of equality and the fight against gender violence in this event of international tourist interest and demanded that the attendees “enjoy the festivities with responsibility”, hoping that “they are magnificent festivities of Albariño 2023”.
