Ourense, July 20, 2023.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, and the mayor of Carballiño, Francisco José Fumega Piñeiro, co-chaired this morning the meeting of the Local Security Board of the City of Carballiño, in which an analysis and evaluation of citizen security was carried out, as well as data on gender violence in the municipality and the devices for the Octopus Festival were launched as a deterrent and preventive measure.
First of all, the Government’s deputy delegate wanted to thank the security forces and bodies for their work and efforts to guarantee citizen security. Emilio González stressed the importance of maintaining the excellent coordination between all the bodies, which resulted in the establishment of joint devices between Local Police, National Police and Autonomous Police.
Likewise, the expansion of the devices and joint operations of the forces to guarantee security was launched in the 61st edition of the Festa do Pulpo for August 13. Emilio González appealed to the citizens for the most massive event in the municipality of Carballiño, in which it is expected that more than 50,000 people will gather in the Carballiño Park, asking for responsibility and also to be attentive to the measures in the face of the expected high temperatures. This year its 61st edition will be held, which will be dedicated to the Camiño Miñoto.
Emilio González reported an 11 percent reduction in crimes against people and a 10 percent reduction in crimes of sexual assault, calling the city’s figures a municipality that improves its security.
GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
With respect to the data presented by the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation, currently in the municipality of Carballiño there are 24 active cases in the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of Gender Violence (VioGén System). Eight of them present medium risk, another eight low risk and another eight risk not appreciated. The vast majority of them have judicial measures to prohibit access and communication. And, in three of them, there are minors in a vulnerable situation.
MASTER PLAN
Regarding the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and its environment, it has been highlighted that during this course most of the activities programmed in educational centers, such as informative talks of the specialized teams of the State and Body Security Forces and Bodies in matters of school bullying - of which a total of 27 were made - risks of new technologies and social networks.
The meeting, which took place in the municipality of Carballiño, was also attended by the territorial head of the presidency of the Xunta de Galicia, Manuel Pardo; the head of the Local Police of Carballiño and of the Civil Guard; the head of the Violence Unit on Women of the Government Subdelegation, Mª Alida Iglesias Gil; and the councillor of public security and personnel of the municipality.
