The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, today approached Carballo to attend the inauguration of the Plaza del Libros and put in value the Xove Cultural Voucher destined to young people and boys who turn 18 years old in 2023. A bonus of 400 euros that can be spent on different cultural products, including books. The deadline for applying for this assistance is open until September 30 on the website www.bonoculturajoven.gob.es
The assistant delegate made a tour of all the participating bookstores together with the mayor Evencio Ferrero and the writer María Lado who was the speaker of the Plaza de los Libros this year.
María Rivas took advantage of the sua visit to the Plaza de los Libros to exchange impressions with the people responsible for the bookstores Brañas Verdes and Clarión de Carballo and La Lus del Candil, of Arteixo, the three adherents of this progama. He also took the opportunity to visit the stands of the bookshops that participate in this book fair and encouraged them to join this program. “In addition to benefiting young people and children, this initiative also represents an important economic injection for the cultural sector with almost 4 million euros throughout the province of A Coruña,” said the deputy delegate.
In the province of A Coruña there are 83 establishments adhered to, and on June 20, 5,400 young people and boys already applied for this bonus. As for the requests of the previous calls, from October 2022 to May 2023 16,000 operations were carried out and 626,000 euros were spent.
The Cultural Voucher works exclusively in those companies, businesses and cultural entities that previously request their adherence to the program. “The entire cultural fabric of the province, both public and private, was invited to join the program, from theaters, festivals and movie theaters, through museums, bookstores or music stores,” the deputy delegate reported. Until now, purchases in specialized stores were distributed, mainly, among movies, video games, shows and books.
With today’s visit to the Plaza de los Libros, the subdelegate wanted to give visibility to this initiative. The Cultural Bond aims to generate the habit of consumption of cultural products in young people and boys and to invigorate the sector of the cultural industry by promoting and supporting initiatives of this type.
About the cultural bonus
From the granting of the aid, the beneficiaries have one year to use the 400 euros in cultural products or services in the affiliated establishments, which already exceed 3,000 throughout Spain.
The Cultural Voucher works with a prepaid card that beneficiaries can have in virtual format on their mobile device or in physical format that they will receive at home.
With this card you can enjoy cultural experiences and products, which are divided into three sections to favor diversification between the different cultural sectors, with the following distribution:
- 100 euros for physical products, for example books, press or discs
-100 euros for digital products: digital press, podcast, online video games
- 200 euros for performing arts: theater, opera, cinema, dance, museums.
