Ourense, June 30, 2023.- The Deputy Delegate of the Government, Emilio González, encourages the nightlife establishments of the province, as well as taxi drivers and NGOs to participate through this Information Table on Male Violence in the help and awareness of possible victims.
Emilio González stresses that the fight against male violence is a duty of the whole society, which today more than ever we must prevent and strengthen with the conviction that there are no ideological or political barriers that put a stop to a common fight against gender violence.
This action is carried out with the aim of preventing, informing and advising the city on male violence in all areas, as well as strengthening information channels by creating safe spaces and strengthening educational measures to prevent its risks.
Also present at the event was the head of the viogen unit of the subdelegation, Alida Iglesias, who highlights the importance of this activity since “we are at the moment of the highest number of complaints for gender violence in the province being the one with the lowest percentage of victims in all of Galicia”
The table will be located in front of the subdelegation of the Government of Ourense on July 4 from 10 a.m. to 14 p.m. In it you can find informative diptychs of ALERTCOPS - The Police and Civil Guard App -, about nightlife, safe taxis, educational references, about abuse systems, indicators for schools, about prevention and defense and stickers about nightlife with words of help such as Angela, phrase used in nightlife to warn that you are facing a possible situation of harassment, as well as merchandising against male violence.
It will be composed of representatives of the State security forces and bodies - National Police, Civil Guard, Local and Autonomous Police, personnel of the CIMM - Information Centers for Battered Women -, personnel of the penitentiary system and the Gender Violence Unit of the Subdelegation of the Government of Ourense.
It is aimed at all citizens in general, not just women. The CIMM, social services of the province, NGOs, associations to help battered women, taxi drivers and people from the hotel and nightlife are some of the profiles that this initiative tries to attract. With their help, many situations of violence can be prevented or detected.
Strategic plan for the prevention of sexual violence
Emilio González stressed that this is a government that, in the face of hatred, proposes “solutions and protection”, implementing commitments within the State Pact against gender violence. Following this type of action, the Ministry of the Interior has approved in recent weeks the first Strategic Plan against the prevention of sexual violence 2023-2027 framed within the objectives of the 2030 agenda.
