Ourense, June 28, 2023.- The Subdelegate of the Government, Emilio González, encourages the cultural establishments of the province to participate in the Young Cultural Bonus of the Government - in the province of Ourense there are approximately 20 physical establishments in which the bonus can be used - and values very positively the reception that this initiative has had, from which 1 in 2 young Ourensans have benefited in 2022. This is how he moved it this morning on a visit to the Espacio Lecture Nobel bookstore in the center of Ourense.
Emilio González wanted to “Encourage more establishments in the cultural field to join the Young Cultural Bonus that for the second consecutive year is launched by the Ministry of Culture. It is an initiative that promotes the culture of young people and helps the cultural world; bookstores, the audiovisual world, public shows, theatres, operas and other cultural events.”
“For young people it is an important help, especially at the moment in which we are now, where there is beginning to be enough cultural offer for the time in which we are in summer; concerts, theater, opera, museums...”
During the visit to the Espazo Reader Novel bookstore, the Subdelegate thanked him for “joining this program” and offered help for “any question related to bonus we are here to help you”. He also encouraged that “there must be many more establishments that adhere to this” as well as “young people who have not yet applied for those 400 euros, to apply for them. In addition, he was also interested to know first-hand the results they are having, about 500 since the accession to the bonus.
The Deputy Delegate stressed that the Government should support and strengthen this initiative, which in 2022 benefited more than 1,200 young people from the 2,000 18-year-old Ourensanos who were entering the call, allocating a greater share to the General Budgets of 2023.
The head of the establishment, Celia Fernández, thanked the visit and thanked on behalf of the 11 bookstores in Ourense that participate in the program, stressing that it is a “very positive message from the Ministry” that all these possibilities can reach adolescents and help financially to be able to survive in this sometimes complex market. A program that “is having a very good response from the youth” so he encouraged them to “continue to have these initiatives in the coming years”
The Ministry of Culture and Sport approved the second edition of the Young Cultural Voucher for the call of 2023 in which an increase in users is expected for which a greater implementation has been made within the General Budgets of the State of 2023 in a clear commitment of the Government for culture.
During the first week to apply for the voucher, 52,422 young people born in 2005 already applied for it, and they will be able to enjoy it and spend it until next September 30.
As of April 30, 911,267 operations in establishments in the cultural sector have already been accounted for, with a total value of almost 33 million euros. In Galicia, the number of operations is 36,581, with an expenditure of almost 1.5 million euros. Specifically in the province of Ourense, we find 2,827 operations worth almost 130 thousand euros.
Finally, the subdelegate stressed that “for young people it is an important help, especially at the moment in which we are now, where there begins to be enough cultural offer for the time in which we are in summer; concerts, theater, opera, museums...”
