The Government grants aid to eight concellos of Galicia to repair municipal infrastructures damaged by forest fires registered in summer of 2022

The Ministry of Territorial Policy has just granted 250,076 euros in aid to repair municipal infrastructures affected by last summer’s fires in eight municipalities of Galicia. It thus resolves the call published last December aimed at granting aid to local entities for damages caused by various emergencies, including forest fires.

In Galicia, all municipalities whose territory was declared a “zone seriously affected by the emergency of Civil Protection” by the (ZAEPC) by the Council of Ministers of 23 August were entitled to this aid. Among these areas were several Galician municipalities affected by 20 large forest fires declared between July 15 and August 10. There were 9 fires in the province of Ourense; 5, in Pontevedra; 3, in A Coruña and 3, in Lugo.

The total amount of these subsidies will be used to carry out works of repair or restitution of infrastructures, equipment and facilities and services of municipal ownership of Galicia. The grant covers 50% of the total cost of repairs. The Ministry will finance projects in the municipalities of Arbo (Pontevedra), Quiroga and Palas de Rei (Lugo), Carballeda de Valdeorras (two projects in this City Hall), Oi｟｠, O Barco de Valdeorras y Rubiá (in the province of Ourense) and Boiro, in the province of A Coruña.
