The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted today at the inauguration of the Iberik Gran Balneario de Guitiriz & Golf that “the opening of this beautiful and healing hotel establishment is the sign, the evidence, that things are being done well, despite the current difficulties, boosting employment and the rural economy”. Pedro Blanco warned that “we are not so bad. No, at least, as some claim, because no company throws itself into a millionaire investment if it does not see a business opportunity, if it is not sure that the conditions and the time are right. And this moment is it. Therefore, today is a great day for Guitiriz, but also for Galicia. A day that confirms that we are on the right track.”
The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, the mayor of Guitiriz, Marisol Morandeira, and the general director of Iberik Hoteles, José Luis Laguna, also participated in this morning’s event. The government delegate thanked him for his commitment to the province, “which demonstrates the importance of public-private collaboration to carry out projects that generate economic activity.”
In this line, Pedro Blanco conveyed the pride and satisfaction of the Government of Spain for the job well done that produces to see that this project is already a reality. “We are going to follow this line of work committed to Galicia, its concellos and its companies, especially with the tourism sector,” he added. This respect highlighted that in the first four months of 2023, about 1.3 million tourists slept in hotels in Galicia, which represents an increase of 19% with respect to the previous year; and that tourism expenditure was 217 million euros, 20% more than the previous year.
“Therefore, there is potential and we are taking advantage of it, making Galicia a preferred destination, a priority destination, a desired destination for national and international tourism,” said the government delegate.
Government aid of 1.3 million
The Government, through an Agreement of the Government Delegated Commission for Economic Affairs and an Order of the Ministry of Finance and Public Service, approved a month ago the granting of regional incentives for this project in Guitiriz. Specifically, an aid of 1,320,592.8 euros, for this modern spa that will create 46 new jobs.
This aid contributes to the interterritorial economic balance and to inclusive and sustainable economic growth by financing productive investment projects, job generators, technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable, promoting economic activity in the regions with a lower level of development and helping to close the gap in terms of per capita income with the rest of the regions, not only of Spain, but also of the EU.
