The government delegate, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, held an institutional meeting today with the president of the Galician Parliament, Miguel Santalices in which he called for “the essential joint work” between both institutions to take advantage of the “unique opportunity” represented by the actions of the Spanish Government and the Recovery Plan to transform Galicia.
In the course of it, Gómez Besteiro conveyed to the president of the Galician Chamber his “commitment and loyalty” as a government delegate to advance issues such as social, economic and environmental justice to turn Galicia into a “greener, digital, inclusive, social and territorially cohesive” territory.
The government delegate also took advantage of the meeting with Miguel Santalices to remember the role played by the Galician Parliament in legislating and controlling political activity “with shared responsibility and as a guarantee of progress for citizens”. Thus, he insisted that the Galician Chamber is the place where the laws are born that will allow Galicia to transit in the face of that transformation, so “the specific weight of Parliament on this path is undoubted”.
Along these lines, Gómez Besteiro stressed the relevance of the funds of the Government Recovery Plan, which has already mobilized more than 2.8 billion euros in the community, half of them managed by the Xunta, as a “catalyst” for the future of Galicia. He also said that this transformation requires the executive and legislative powers to “do their homework” to respond to the needs of Galician citizens and ensure a recovery focused on social, environmental and equality policies.
