The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, and the mayor of Lugo, Lara Méndez, informed this Friday that from today the agents of the National Police of the Provincial Police Station of Lugo and those attached to the Xunta de Galicia in the city can already carry out the shooting practices in the premises of the Local Police, in San Fiz. This collaboration is part of the collaboration agreement signed between the Secretary of State for Security and the City of Lugo so that the professionals of the National Police in Lugo can train in the shooting gallery for the next four years, being able to be extended by another four. The agreement includes the duty of the Provincial Commissariat of Lugo to participate in the costs of maintenance of this infrastructure.
The deputy delegate and the Mayor supervised, accompanied by the provincial chief commissioner, José María Esteban; and the intendant Jesús Piñeiro; as well as the councilor of the Governance area, Paula Alvarellos; the beginning of the shooting practices by the agents of the National Police. Isabel Rodríguez explained that until today, the national police carried out the shooting exercises in a gallery truck, with the limitations that you are presenting. “Access to this equipment will result in an improvement in the training of agents who will be able to perform more hours of practice and with more versatility,” said Rodríguez.
During the meeting, the subdelegate thanked the councilor for her sensitivity and commitment to provide municipal facilities for the use of the National Police and stressed that this agreement is an example of the close and intense collaboration between the Government of Spain and the City of Lugo with the aim of ensuring the defense of the security of the Lucenses and consolidating Lugo as one of the safest cities in the territory.
He also stressed the climate of cooperation between the two institutions in police matters, and stressed the possibility that the facilities would also contribute to improving the effectiveness of the National Police with shared use, since both bodies carry out joint operations.
