O Barco de Valdeorras, April 20, 2023.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, and the mayor of O Barco de Valdeorras, Alfredo L. García, co-chaired this morning the Local Security Xunta of the municipality with the incorporation of the National Police to whom the subdelegate welcomed this body and placed #relevance to importance its deterrent activity since its implantation in the town in recent months; to the subsequent meeting of the same.
This is the first meeting to open the management office of the National Police last February. Thus, this collegiate body was established in order to facilitate the coordination and #effective cooperation between the different public administrations in matters of security in the territorial scope of the city of O Barco.
The deputy delegate of the Government wanted to convey to the representatives of the security forces and bodies present his congratulations for the “professionalism demonstrated by emphasizing the importance of maintaining the excellent coordination existing between all the bodies.”
With regard to citizen security, the significant decrease in infractions during the year 2022 was noted with respect to the previous year. In 2022 the clarification of crimes by the security forces in the village of O Barco de Valdeorras increased, and during the first quarter of 2023 the infractions against the heritage and decrease of administrative infractions decreased. The subdelegate of the Government stressed that the crime rate in this city is “low and has a downward trend” with respect to previous years, which means that O Barco de Valdeorras remains “a safe municipality in which the administrations and the security forces and bodies will continue to work to maintain the levels of security reached”.
GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AND THE MASTER PLAN
As for the data presented by the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation, they indicate a singular increase in the active cases in the VioGén system in relation to the figures provided in the Local Security Xunta held in 2022, from 14 to 20 cases. Of these, four presents high risk, three medium risk, and eleven risk not appreciated. It is noted that in all cases there are judicial measures prohibiting approximation and communication. With respect to the follow-up of active cases, fifteen are assigned to the Civil Guard and four to the Local Police.
About the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and in their environments, it was reported that talks were given in the public school and in the institute within the activities programmed in the schools of the municipality and the number of informative talks of the specialized teams of the Security Forces and Bodies on the use of new technologies, school harassment, gender violence and prevention of additive behaviors, among other topics will be increased. During the academic year 2021-2022, 17 talks were given on bullying, 14 on new technologies and 6 on gender violence.
In addition, the Civil Guard and the Local Police will intensify surveillance devices in the vicinity of educational centers to prevent drug trafficking, consumption and possession, as well as to detect possible points of sale and all types of violent behavior.
