Pontevedra, March 23, 2023.- The Government Deputy Delegate in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, today reaffirmed her “commitment to open the doors of the Government Subdelegation and bring its services to all the citizens of the province in the day of open doors organized today in the framework of Open Administration Week 2023. As he explained, “for the second time we opened the doors of this Subdelegation to everyone to make known the work that is done in this part of the peripheral administration, which on many occasions is a great unknown.”
Maica Larriba was the hostess this morning and received in the office the people participating in the informative tours that were held in the main building of the Subdelegation. In them, the participants got to know first-hand the premises and services of the building, as well as its history and some curiosities. The activity began in the meeting room with an informative video about the work carried out in the Subdelegation, its services and competences.
The Subdelegation manages the services of Industry, Administrative Sanctions, Authorizations, Fisheries and Agriculture, External Health, Gender Violence; Civil Protection, Labour and Foreigners, Border Control Points and Office of Attention to Citizenship, in addition to those of an administrative nature of operation. As indicated, they are very different areas of action, but all of them with a very high volume of activity as exemplified in the processing of more than 6,000 administrative sanctions in 2022.
The Agriculture and Fisheries unit carried out more than 700 fishing inspections in the province, both on vessels and in ports. Among these inspections, 38 infringement proceedings were filed. The External Health Services controlled more than 20,000 consignments of mainly fishery products at border control points located in the ports of Vigo, Marín and Vilagarcía. In addition, the Animal Health inspections, dedicated to the control of imports and exports of products not intended for human consumption and of animal origin, controlled almost 700 consignments. The plant health inspections, which are dedicated to fruit, feed and plants, reached a figure of 3,700 controlled consignments. The visit also explained the operation of one of the less well-known services provided by this Subdelegation: the External Health Service in the city of Vigo and, in particular, its international vaccination center.
It advises international travellers on compulsory vaccination in the countries of destination and facilitates it. The activity recovered after the pandemic, going from administering 890 vaccines in 2020 to 1,006 during 2021 and 1,797 in 2022 with 2,914 travelers attended. The subdelegate of the Government gave the visitors a small institutional gift and thanked them for their participation and the interest shown in the informative tour, while stressing the need to continue working to bring the Administration closer to all citizens.
