The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, highlighted in As Neves the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the municipalities of demographic challenge of Galicia, which materializes again in the impulse to 13 pioneering projects against depopulation with 2.3 million euros from the Plan of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of the Government.
José Miñones was in As Neves, where he presented, together with the mayor, Xosé Manuel Rodríguez, and the deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, the project to rehabilitate and convert the houses of teachers and unitary schools of Taboexas into a coliving center.
The objective of the City of As Neves is to settle population in rural areas and boost the economy of these areas. For this, the project will intervene in five homes, currently in abandonment, to reuse them and be occupied by new inhabitants. The project, besides allowing the settlement of the population, also provides spaces for these people to develop economic and social activities.
The initiative presented by the local government of As Neves, is one of the thirteen in Galicia selected by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge in the call for grants to develop innovative initiatives that promote the territorial transformation of municipalities of demographic challenge. In the province of Pontevedra, 835,465 euros will be injected to develop 4 initiatives under this program that are promoted by the Diputación de Pontevedra, the Mancomunidad del Salnés, the AETC Río Miño and the City of As Neves.
The delegate expressed the conviction of this Government “in the attractiveness and in the capacity of transformation and updating that rural has” and said that this year the Ministry will open a new line of aid for pilot projects that will make available to local entities 33 million euros.
Green and digital transformation of As Neves City Council
In Las Nieves, José Miñones highlighted the Government’s commitment to the municipality and to the continuous collaboration with the municipalities that is reflected in different investment lines to promote the green and digital transition of the municipalities. He pointed out that the investments of the Government of Pedro Sánchez in the Nieves exceed one million euros for energy efficiency, housing, demographic challenge and internet access.
Among these investments stand out the 925,655 euros contributed by the IDAE (agency of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition) and which allowed the City of Las Nieves to completely renew the municipal outdoor lighting and that of the House of Culture, to make them more efficient and allow a significant saving on the bill and reduction of the ecological footprint of the municipality.
Also in the field of energy efficiency, the City of As Neves has received a contribution of more than 55,000 euros to install aerothermia in the buildings of the Unitary School and the Children's School of Me says so. In this case, the aid was managed by the Provincial Council of Pontevedra within a specific call from the Ministry for Ecological Transition aimed at municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants.
In housing, As Neves benefits from the urban environment recovery line within the State Housing Plan to boost housing rehabilitation in the urban center and in the Station neighborhood. This aid, which is managed through the Xunta, includes the creation of an office that advises citizens on the improvement of these currently empty homes to put them back in the purchased one.
Along with these investments, the delegate also said that the Single Broadband Program, managed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, will guarantee high-performance broadband to 1,000 families and businesses in the Snows before the end of next year.
Finally, José Miñones stressed that As Neves is included in the Tourism Sustainability Plan County-Paradanta, which funds the Ministry of Industry with one million euros of the Recovery Plan.
