The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, and the mayor of Viveiro, María Loureiro, co-chaired on Wednesday the Xunta Local de Seguridad to plan the special device for the Holy Week of Viveiro 2023, declared of International Tourist Interest. During the meeting, which took place in the City of Viveiro, the calendar of events that will take place in the municipality of Mariñán between 1 and 9 April was analyzed and it was decided to strengthen surveillance with the presence of agents, both of the National Police and of the Local Police and Traffic of the Civil Guard.
The deputy delegate and the councilor highlighted the effort of coordination and collaboration between the two administrations to make the Holy Week of Viveiro a success. Thus, with the aim of maintaining public order, the devices, which will be flexible and will adapt to the expected influx of public, will cover the historic center and the routes of the different brotherhoods, as well as other points of interest of the locality.
Isabel Rodríguez stressed that “the Government of Spain maintains its commitment and sensitivity to one of the events of greatest tourist attraction in the province, which is part of our cultural acquis” and valued the work carried out by the brotherhoods to make this event possible.
The meeting was also attended by officials from the National Police, the Traffic subsector and the Civil Guard of the Sea, the Local Police, the Autonomous Police and the Port Police, along with members of the Xunta de Cofradías de Viveiro. Representatives of the General Directorate of Emergencies and Civil Protection were also present.
