The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, certified today in Pol as the Plan of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of the Government "is impacting in the rural of the province, improving the life of the citizens, with projects that bet on sustainability and energy transition, responding to the demands of the municipalities", and that is exemplified in the 671,000 euros that the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving, granted to the Municipality of Pol to finance the 80% of the project of modernization.
Isabel Rodríguez visited the town, accompanied by the mayor, Lo leí Rodríguez, to check the result of these actions of relay and renovation of 1,561 light points by other more modern and efficient luminaires equipped with new equipment of LED technologies (low consumption), as well as the modernization and optimization of the control panels of public lighting. In this line, the subdelegate advanced that this new lighting system, in addition to improving light quality, allows the City Council to achieve energy savings of more than 70%, “which means reducing the annual electricity bill by 45,000 euros that can devote the other needs of the municipality”.
For the subdelegate, this is a project that follows the line of commitment to sustainability and the need to make Lugo a more environmentally friendly territory, and that is part of the 70 initiatives that the IDAE promoted in terms of energy saving and efficiency in the province with an investment of 20.7 million euros. “These funds are allowing us to undertake measures to favor the passage of a low-carbon economy, contributing to the sustainable development of our villas,” he said.
The deputy delegate congratulated the mayor for reaching this assistance from the Government and stressed how the municipality continues to move forward and improve its services because “when the administrations add wills, it gets the municipalities to improve, benefiting, as in this case, the 1,600 inhabitants who live in Pol”.
Digitalization of the municipality
Along with the energy transition, the subdelegate highlighted the presence of Pol in the two calls for the UNICO Broadband Program, the plan of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation for the provision of internet greater than 300mb in areas without coverage. Specifically, it will allow the high-speed connection of 238 points where 1,511 homes and companies of Pol are located. “With funds from the Recovery Plan, Pol will have a high-speed internet connection in practically the entire territory,” confirmed Isabel Rodríguez.
Between the two calls for the Single Plan, the Government invests in the province of Lugo 22.5 million euros to bring high-speed connection technology to more than 32,700 homes and companies in the province.
