Pontevedra, March 20, 2023.- The deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, stressed at the beginning of the Open Administration Week her commitment to bring to all the citizens of the province the multiple services that the State Administration carries out in the province “and that in many cases are great unknown”. It is the second occasion that the Subdelegation opens its doors under the umbrella of this initiative of the Government of Pedro Sánchez and that, on this occasion, also contemplates visits to the External Health Services of Vigo.
Today, addressed to the media, Maica Larriba reviewed the work carried out by the Subdelegation in the province, recalling that it manages the services of Industry, Administrative Sanctions, Authorizations, Fisheries and Agriculture, Foreign Health, Gender Violence; Civil Protection, Work and Foreigners, Border Control Points and Office of Attention to Citizenship, in addition to those of an administrative nature of operation. “They are very different areas of action, but all of them with a very high volume of activity, as exemplified in the processing of more than 6,000 administrative sanctions in 2022, where those related to the possession of drugs stand out, with more than 4,000. However, Maica Larriba drew attention to the 247 imposed in the world of sport by anti-sports behaviors in the fields and stadiums.
Likewise, the Agriculture and Fisheries Unit carried out more than 700 fishing inspections in the province both on ships and in ports “a very important activity due to the volume of fleet that fishes in international fishing grounds and that are the responsibility of the State,” said Larriba.Entre these inspections. The subdelegate highlighted the activity of the three Border Control Points in the three ports of general interest of the State of the province: Vigo, Marín and Vilagarcía, where the products that are imported and exported are controlled.
The External Health Services controlled more than 20,000 consignments of mainly fishery products at these points. In addition, the Animal Health inspections, dedicated to the control of imports and exports of products not intended for human consumption and of animal origin, controlled almost 700 consignments. The plant health inspections, which are dedicated to fruit, feed and plants, reached a figure of 3,700 controlled consignments. The subdelegate of the Government also wanted to focus on “perhaps another of the less well-known services provided by this Subdelegation, that of External Health in the city of Vigo and, in particular, that of its international vaccination center”.
It advises international travellers on compulsory vaccination in the countries of destination and facilitates it. Maica Larriba noted that “the activity recovered after the pandemic from administering 890 vaccines in 2020 to 1,006 during 2021 and 1,797 in 2022 with 2,914 travelers served.” The subdelegate also highlighted “the high amount of analysis that is carried out on narcotic drugs that are confiscated and that last year exceeded 9,300, highlighting the greater volume of cannabis and derivatives against other substances.
