The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, highlighted today the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the transformation of the city of Pontevedra through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with investments reaching almost 26 million euros in the last two years. José Miñones presented today in Pontevedra the rehabilitation of the old building of the municipal conservatory, which will become an arts center thanks to the PIREP Local program of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, within the Recovery Plan.
The delegate toured the building accompanied by the mayor of Pontevedra, Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores, and the deputy delegate of the Government in the province, Maica Larriba. The Government provides 922,817 euros to undertake the restoration and create a new space for creativity, open and accessible.
This rehabilitation is one of the three that will be undertaken in the city of Pontevedra within the framework of this program of the Government of Spain. Two of them are promoted by the City of Pontevedra, which reaches 1.7 million euros of the funds of this call. In addition to the former headquarters of the conservatory, the Ministry also finances the integral reform of the administrative building of Churruchaos, with 776,096 euros. The City of Pontevedra will complete with its own funds the entire investment for both projects, until reaching the 3 million euros planned.
The third project of the Local PIREP Program in Pontevedra is promoted by the Diputación de Pontevedra, which will reform the CEIP Dar González García, in the Príncipe Felipe Center, with 1.7 million euros of government funds. Adding the three projects, the total investments of this program in the city of Pontevedra add up to 4.7 million euros.
The delegate highlighted the impact of the Local PIREP Program on the improvement of the public services of the Galician municipalities. This call from the Ministry of Transport granted 27.3 million euros to Galician municipalities and deputations for the rehabilitation of 36 public buildings of its ownership.
Impact of the Recovery Plan in Pontevedra
The government delegate thanked the mayor and the municipal government for their work in attracting investment from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for the city. José Miñones reviewed the projects promoted by the Government in this city “with an unprecedented investment effort of almost 26 million euros that demonstrates our commitment to Pontevedra”.
Among the investments captured by the City of Pontevedra, are the modernization of the tourist destination of Pontevedra, the digitalization of the local administration, the naturalization of the Gafos River and the implementation of the “Green Network” of the city, and the extension of broadband Internet access to rural parishes.
