The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas has today traveled to Amor to supervise, together with the mayor, José Miguel Alonso Pumar, the renovation of all the municipal public lighting that has been carried out with funds of the IDAE (Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving)
The project was valued at 802,821.21 euros of which the IDAE contributed 642,256.97 euros and the City Council the remaining 160,564.24 euros. Thanks to these funds, 1,546 luminaires were replaced by LED technology and 23 control panels by more modern ones that include remote control. With this aid, it has been possible to reduce consumption by about 50%.

During her visit María Rivas also approached Cabo Ortegal and made reference to the natural heritage of both Amor and the entire region. The deputy delegate of the Government, who a few days ago visited the town hall of Ortigueira, recalled that “Cabo Ortegal is a reference not only for the Galician and Galician but for thousands of people who year after year visit this coast and specifically this town hall attracted by this impressive and wild natural beauty,” she said.
María Rivas stressed that “Os Aguillóns more than a landscape is a show that is forever engraved in memory and we have the obligation, responsibility and the will to take care of this natural heritage that makes Amor a privileged city council”,
In this regard, the subdelegate recalled the impact that the integration of Amor, together with the other municipalities that are part of AXCO, in the network of world geoparks will have in the area, “which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the great tourist potential of this region.” A potential that as recalled by the Government of Pedro Sánchez is very much in mind “as evidenced by the fact of the support received through the Tourist Sustainability Plan of Destination Geoparque de Cabo Ortegal, with funds of 1.5 billion euros”.
Single Plan - Broadband
During her visit to the municipality, María Rivas took the opportunity to remember that thanks to the Government Recovery Plan 1,344 homes and 138 areas of Affection will have a fast internet connection within the UN-Broadband plan before the end of 2024, “which will undoubtedly be another factor that will contribute to boost Affection for the future”.
Regarding the province of A Coruña, in this second call, which runs between January this year and December 2024, ultra-fast connectivity will reach 36,556 households and companies in the province, with a total investment of 26,679,653 euros, of which the Government contributes 13,369,858 euros (50%).
As for the call for 2021 that is currently being executed in the province of A Coruña, 15,923 households and companies from 1,890 areas benefited in 76 concellos. The total investment was 4,469,994 euros, of which the Government contributes 3,497,951 euros. The objective is to provide those smaller municipalities with the necessary tools to make them more competitive.
